Parte 2: THE SECURITY CAMERAS RECORDED THE MOMENT THEIR PLAN FELL APART

Bianca stared at the front door as if refusing to believe what had just happened.

She tried the key again.

Nothing.

Marcus stepped forward.

“Dad?”

No answer.

He knocked harder.

“Dad, open the door.”

I watched the live camera feed from inside the den.

Three different angles.

Driveway.

Front porch.

Boat dock.

Every second was being recorded.

One of the men standing beside Bianca adjusted his tie.

“Mr. Callaway,” he called politely. “We’re here regarding the scheduled property inspection.”

I opened the front door just enough to step outside.

“No,” I said calmly.

The man frowned.

“I’m sorry?”

“There is no inspection.”

Bianca folded her arms.

“Raymond, stop making this difficult.”

I looked directly at her.

“You first.”

She laughed nervously.

“The buyers are expecting us.”

“My buyers?”

“The family already agreed.”

“My family doesn’t own this property.”

Marcus finally spoke.

“Dad…”

I held up one finger.

“Before anyone says another word…”

I handed the suited man a copy of the deed.

“My name.”

I flipped to the final page.

“My signature.”

Then I placed another document on top.

“The county’s preliminary forgery report.”

The smile disappeared from Bianca’s face.

The real estate agent slowly lowered his clipboard.

“I wasn’t aware there was a dispute.”

“There isn’t.”

I looked at Bianca.

“There’s a criminal investigation.”

Silence settled over the porch.

My attorney pulled into the driveway moments later.

He carried two thick binders.

“Good morning, Raymond.”

He nodded toward Bianca.

“And Mrs. Callaway.”

Bianca forced a smile.

“This is all just a misunderstanding.”

“No.”

My attorney opened the first binder.

“Mr. Callaway never transferred ownership.”

He opened the second.

“Nor did he authorize anyone to negotiate a sale.”

The agent looked confused.

“But we received signed paperwork.”

“So did we.”

My attorney placed both signatures side by side.

One genuine.

One forged.

Even Marcus could see the difference.

He looked at Bianca.

“You told me Dad signed these.”

She swallowed.

“He… he did.”

I shook my head.

“No.”

My attorney slid another sheet across the porch railing.

“The hospital confirms Raymond was under heavy postoperative medication on the date these documents were supposedly executed.”

Marcus stared at the report.

Then at Bianca.

Then back at me.

His face slowly drained of color.

I finally asked the question that had haunted me for days.

“Who forwarded my mail?”

Nobody answered.

I held up another envelope.

“Who changed my phone number?”

Still silence.

Then my attorney spoke.

“We subpoenaed the forwarding request yesterday.”

Bianca’s head snapped toward him.

“The Postal Service keeps identification records.”

He opened the file.

“The request wasn’t filed by Raymond.”

He looked directly at Bianca.

“It was filed using your driver’s license.”

Marcus stepped backward.

“What?”

She turned toward him.

“I was trying to help.”

“By stealing my father’s mail?”

“You don’t understand!”

“No.”

Marcus’ voice cracked.

“I don’t.”

The real estate agent quietly closed his briefcase.

“I think we’re leaving.”

The two prospective buyers exchanged uncomfortable looks.

One of them spoke softly.

“If ownership isn’t clear…”

“It is clear,” I answered.

“I own the house.”

They nodded once.

Then walked away.

The sale Bianca had spent months arranging disappeared in less than sixty seconds.

As everyone stood frozen, my phone rang.

It was Detective Harris.

I answered on speaker.

“Raymond.”

“We’ve completed the bank review.”

Bianca stopped breathing.

“And?”

“We found something unexpected.”

I frowned.

“What is it?”

“The forged deed wasn’t the only document.”

My attorney looked up immediately.

“There are additional loan applications.”

“A line of credit.”

“Against the lake house.”

Marcus whispered,

“What?”

The detective continued.

“Eight hundred thousand dollars.”

I slowly turned toward Bianca.

She looked ready to collapse.

Marcus stared at her in disbelief.

“You mortgaged Dad’s house?”

She burst into tears.

“I was going to pay it back!”

“With what?”

She couldn’t answer.

The detective spoke one last time.

“There’s something else, Raymond.”

“What?”

“The money wasn’t used to renovate the property.”

A long pause followed.

“It was wired into an account belonging to a company where Bianca is the sole owner.”

Marcus closed his eyes.

Everything he’d believed about his father shattered in a single morning.

And as the detectives’ vehicles turned into the driveway, Bianca finally realized the cameras she had feared weren’t protecting me from her.

They had preserved every second of the moment her entire scheme collapsed.
